Tyler Morris
Tyler Lasher Morris is the Director of Training at the Independent Living Training and Technical Assistance (IL T&TA) Center at the University of Montana’s Rural Institute for Inclusive Communities. In this national role, he leads the design, delivery, and coordination of training for IL grantees across the country. His work supports the advancement of Independent Living values, capacity-building, and innovation throughout the IL network. Before joining the University of Montana, Morris spent 18 years at CIL Jacksonville, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering people with disabilities to live independently in Northeast Florida. For the final 8 of those years, he served as Executive Director, leading a team that provided services across five counties, removed systemic barriers, and empowered thousands to reach their goals. Morris currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Nonprofit Center of Northeast Florida. His previous leadership roles include serving on the State of Florida’s Independent Living Council (as the Network of Centers Representative), the Florida Association of Centers for Independent Living (as President), and Jacksonville’s Mayor’s Disability Council (as Chairperson). He is a fellow of JAX Chamber’s Hightower Program and a graduate of Leadership Jacksonville Class of 2021. His leadership and community impact have been recognized with honors including the University of North Florida’s Young Alumni Achievement Award, EverBank’s Community Champion Award, and the City of Jacksonville’s Service and Leadership Award. A proud alumnus of the University of North Florida, Morris holds a Bachelor’s degree in Special Education – Deaf Studies and a Master’s degree in Business Administration. He has called Jacksonville home since 2005 and enjoys the adventure of travel and spending time at the dog park with his dog, Mac.
